Unlike conventional recombinant growth hormone, which must be injected every day, lonapegsomatropin uses Ascendis's TransCon ("transient conjugation") technology to slowly release fully active, unmodified growth hormone from an inert carrier over the course of a week, so patients inject only once weekly.
